The Unconscionable Detention of Adel Hamad

Adel Hamad has been held in Guantánamo since 2003. His attorneys have traveled to Afghanistan and Pakistan to verify that Mr. Hamad was, as he claimed, a teacher and hospital worker who worked with orphans and refugees. An excellent video has been made featuring the testimony of those who knew and worked with this warm, generous man.

Nevertheless the United States has classified Mr. Hamad as an "enemy combatant." A dissenting member of Mr. Hamad's kangaroo tribunal, apparently disgusted with the proceedings, described the detention of Mr. Hamad as "unconscionable."
